A Proud Google Moment

I wanted to use the google search engine using my phone. There are always very interesting pictures above the search box.The picture that was there on monday twelfth of January 2015 really caught my attention.I could tell right away the picture was familiar, it was a picture of a Kenyan classroom.

It was so obvious to me it was a picture of an old man student in a classroom with class mates as young as his grandchildren. And when i downloaded the picture its title was 11th anniversary of Kimani Maruges first day in school. That was a proud google moment for me.Google was honouring and recognizing Kimani Maruge. Kimani Maruge holds the Guinness World Record for being the oldest person to start primary school he enrolled in the first grade January 12, 2004, at the age of 84.

Primary Education became free in public schools and so he took this golden opportunity to get an education because before he never got a chance to get an education. He was a good student and got along well with his fellow classmates. He made history and it was a proud moment when i saw the picture of him on googles search engine. Its a big deal and i am happy to see google honor the oldest man to join school and i know this story all so well because he was from my country.
