YOU’VE probably heard of YouTube sensations such as Zoella and Alfie, thrust into stardom with quirky videos and Hollywood smiles.
But now there is a new wave of social media stars taking over the web – InstaFamous photo bloggers.
And they don’t come much more glamorous or successful than Scots Instagram sensation Jamie Genevieve.
The web star, whose real name is Jamie Grant, is one of the rising stars of the growing trend of young people uploading their lives on to Instagram in a series of touched-up snapshots.
The 21-year-old, from Glasgow , started posting pictures of her make-up and tagging the brands she uses and has now joined the YouTubing ranks with hit video posts adding to her following.
In a matter of months she had thousands of people following her account and asking for tips on how to get her look.
She now has an incredible 100,000 followers and her posts have been liked and shared well over a million times around the world.
And her online success is seeping into the real world.
While working as a make-up artist for Illamasqua at Debenhams in Glasgow, Jamie said it’s not unusual for people to come in and ask for a carbon copy of her Instagram photos.

She said: “The first time it happened, this girl came in in a rush to get her make-up done before a night out – she pulled out a picture of me on her phone and asks for that make-up. I just stared at her and said: ‘That’s me.’”
Jamie started posting photos of her make-up just over a year ago and she is still surprised by the glimpses of fame.
She said: “I remember when I hit 10,000 followers, I was so chuffed with myself and it grew from there.
“Then the first company got in touch to say that they wanted to send me free products. They sent £500 worth of free make-up through my door.
“I was in the car with my mum when I opened it and I just started crying, I was so happy.”
Following the example of YouTube contemporaries such as Zoe “Zoella” Sugg , and Alfie Deyes, Jamie eventually bowed to pressure from her fans and started posting videos of her make-up tutorials.
But it was a lot harder than it looked.
She said: “People kept asking if I would make videos for them to follow but I had the fear.
“I taught myself, badly, how to do them. If you watch my first video, it’s so bad. I made the mistake of trying to be too nice and not be myself.

“The videos were too long and I wasn’t even that good at make-up.
“I’m glad I started when I did but there would have been make-up artists out there at the time who would have looked at it and laughed.”
Once she started releasing make-up tutorials on YouTube, the reaction was instant.
She said: “Last October, I started posting videos of Halloween make-up, and it seemed to just boom.
“It started off with 20 new followers a day and then it was 100 a day, then 500. You wake up in the morning and you’ve hit another milestone and you don’t really know what to do.”
Her biggest milestone yet has been the 100,000 follower mark.
“It’s absolutely mental,” she said. “I had to explain it to my dad that it’s twice as many people as you would fit in Ibrox or Hampden. He was quite impressed with that.
“But it was scary as well because I need to actually take this seriously. People are looking to me for help or inspiration.”
With all the activity on her profile it wasn’t long before she caught some attention from companies with A-list connections.

Bellami, who also have Kylie Jenner of Kardashians fame on their roster, got in contact to ask Jamie to endorse their hair extensions.
Grinning, she confessed: “That’s one of the most exciting emails I’ve ever read in my life. They’re a massive company.
“I got signed to a YouTube partnership in London with StyleHaul so I’ve been invited to lots of events down there but because I’m working full-
time, I never make it down.”
Jamie is channelling her skills and experience into her own new business.
Next week, she launches SASSBOMB, her own make-up, skincare and lifestyle blog complete with reviews and giveaways and dreams of making a living from her online profile.
She said: “I’ve got big make-up brands from America getting in touch asking me to work with them and I get paid to promote things which is just crazy.
“I’m happy just now working and doing this in my spare time but if I can start earning enough money and getting enough endorsements on my YouTube then I think it can be a full-time job.
“Having the blog, YouTube and Instagram all going at the same time could let me do that.
“I’d also be able to travel to work with different brands and at different events
“I remember when I left school some of the girls were like, ‘What are you going to do with make-up?’ It seems to have done pretty well for me.”

Social media is notorious for trolling but Jamie has so far had mostly positive feedback.
She said: “I’m really lucky because, even as big as it’s got, everyone has been so lovely and I think it’s a lot to do with it being mainly girls that like the page.
“It’s not like I’m a model or something who has got famous for getting their boobs out. Make-up artists online are like angels to girls.

Ask My Shoes

Ask my shoes is a very creative song title by a kenyan band known as heart the band.Ask my shoes is a song about a guy who works so hard and denies himself the finer things in life just to hand those finer things to his girl.In the song they say if you want to know what i have been through or gone through just ask my shoes which you can assume are worn out shoes.

Just look at how worn out they are and they will tell you the story. This is a realistic story in a song. Some guys do work so hard not for themselves but only to maintain a lady they are dating or in a relationship with. They work so hard to keep up with the financial demands of these ladies denying themselves of any luxiouries only to find out they are being used. This song speaks of a very realistic and rather common aspect of love. Some ladies use guys for financial gain and needs this is the story behind this song.In the song they speak of the sacrifices the guy makes like riding the train only to pay for his girl to take a taxi. And he eats cheap for just to be able to pay for an expensive meal for his girl.

How he tries so hard to create beautiful moments only to find his girl is cheating on him.The way the shoes are worn out tell exactly of the sacrifices taken all in the name of love. But all is in vain because the love is just one sided and is not true love.

"I will see you all in two years," he added. "God bless. Take care."

Box Office: ‘Furious 7′ Debuts to $384 Million Globally

Furious 7″ left all its competitors in the dust with a scorching global debut of $384 million.
The latest installment in the “Fast and Furious” franchise kicked off in 63 international markets, as well as the U.S. and Canada. It marked Universal Pictures’ biggest wide release ever, unspooling in 14,009 theaters around the world, including Imax and large format locations.
It ranks as the fourth highest-grossing global opening in history behind “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” ($483.2 million), “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” ($394.4 million) and “The Avengers ($392.5 million).
The opening breakdown was $143.6 million stateside bow and a $240.4 million international kick-off. It’s a particularly impressive international figure, because “Furious 7″ has yet to open in such major markets at Russia, Japan and China.

Digital Migration-Is It That Important

Three major media houses were turned off due to the digital migration. Nation Media Group, Standard Media Group and Royal Media Services wanted to migrate to digital broadcasting as self-provisioning signal distributors. They did not want to let paid-tv to be their only signal distributors. And so when the digital migration due date came they were switched off and they were off air for 19 days. They finally went digital which means the people without pay t.v or digital set boxes can not access television at all.The three media houses want to have their own digital set boxes so that when people purchase them. They will not pay to watch their television channels. The Government insists on digital migration because it is a worldwide move. But other African countries who are even more advanced than ours have said they are not yet ready for the June 17 worldwide digital migration. And they have been excused.I do not know why Kenya is so persistent. And i wonder is digital migration amust. When it means that people have to pay to watch television channels or have to buy digital set boxes. For people living from hand to mouth,is this even possible? People now have to incur unnecessary expenses. So what is with going digital and incurring more expenses.Digital migration is apparently for its benefits.

Benefits of Digital Migration: Digital TV will apparently enhance viewer experience through better picture quality Digital Television Broadcasting will offer sharper, brighter picture, and reduced interference. Viewers will also get to enjoy improved sound quality.Digital signals take up much less bandwith and therefore more channels can be broadcast. The Kenya Government’s Broadcasting Digital Migration Policy encourages more free-to-air channels for the diverse Kenyan population. The Set Top Box (STB) which will be used to receive the digital signal also
has the capability to interface with devices such as a cell phone memory card or internet modem. This will provide viewers with access to many more services and information.

Better viewing pleasure With analogue you are only able to have standard definition television . With Digital Broadcasting High definition television is possible . High Definition Television is the premium version of digital television, offering picture and sound quality which is much better than analog television. The reason is that it offers up to twice the vertical and horizontal resolution of a traditional analog (PAL) signal. The higher resolution picture is particularly suited to large screen television displays. This means that the benefits of HDTV are particularly noticeable on larger screen sets and when using projection equipment. HDTV will be in widescreen format and provide cinema-quality viewing with Dolby surround sound Electronic Program Guides (EPGs) Electronic Programme Guides (EPGs) are a feature of digital television broadcasting that come fitted in the Set Top Box. An Electronic Program Guide (EPGs) can be used by viewers to navigate between channels, identify the currently screening
program and the next program on each channel. More sophisticated EPGs can be used to set reminders for program viewing, provide a short synopsis of the content of programs, identify programming in advance for several days, search for programs by genre, and provide access to some enhancements among others. Better utilization of frequencies.

A digital signal carries much more data than an analogue signal. Therefore, more than one channel of television programs can be broadcast at the same time. This is known as multi-channeling. This efficient of channels reduces the number of frequencies required for the broadcasting sector. The CCK is therefore able to deploy the unused frequencies for use in other services.Yes this are many advanced benefits but are they affordable to everyone.Truth is it is not free.Digital television has its benefits but can everyone afford it?The answer is no but it is being forced onto people or you go without. With all the benefits people are not looking at the disadvantages of Digital television because it has its expenses. And when it rains even alittle the signal is lost and you do not get to watch television.Which leads me to ask the question,is Digital Migration really that neccesary for everyone. Why cant people choose for themselves and pick what suits them.

7 Surefire Ways to Stop Thinning Hair

7 Surefire Ways to Stop Thinning Hair

Courtesy of Getty + Stuart C. Wilson
As many as two-thirds of women will experience hair thinning, according to a Harvard Medical School study. So, if you have fine hair already or notice your hair has been thinning as of late (it’s normal to lose roughly 100 hairs a day, but significantly more than that isn’t typical), it might be time to make some changes to your routine to prevent breakage and even worse, hair loss. To keep you ahead of the thinning-hair curve, Cosmopolitan.com talked to New York hairstylist Kevin Mancuso, creative director for Nexxus Salon Hair Care, about how to treat, prevent, and plump up skinny strands.
1. Loosen the tension. Constantly pulling on your hair and causing tension on your strands — by putting it into tight ponytails, excessively blow-drying it straight with a brush, or wearing extensions without giving you hair a break every few months — can permanently damage your hair follicles and actually cause hair loss or traction alopecia (as it’s medically termed). Mancuso advises his clients with thinning hair to choose looser styles rather than tight updos all the time and to opt for a brushless blow-dry (where you just use your fingers and the heat from the dryer) first before styling, both of which give hair a break from styling practices that can thin strands out even more.
2. Never skip conditioner. Not using conditioner is one of the biggest mistakes women with fine hair make. Because your hair is thin and often falls flat, you may instinctually avoid daily rinse-out conditioners and even any leave-in sprays or treatments too, thinking they’ll weigh down your hair. However, the opposite can be true, as long as you choose a lightweight formula. Here’s why: Over time, lack of hydration causes hair to become damaged and brittle, causing the actual diameter of each strand to become smaller. You do want to avoid ultra-softening conditioners formulated for extremely damaged hair which can be too heavy, and opt for those that are “as lightweight as possible,” Mancuso suggests. “Look for those that contain panthenol and glycerin that moisturize and support the thickening of your hair.” These ingredients keep fragile hair strong and responsive to styling. (Try Dove Oxygen Moisture Conditioner and Nexxus Hydra-Light Leave In Conditioning Foam.)
3. Chill on heat styling. The hair shaft of fine or thinning hair can break easily under high heat, so use your hot tools sparingly if you can. But, if your beauty routine requires a blow-dry, and a curling or flat iron, always use a protective spray on your hair first. Mancuso suggests gentle, lightweight mists for clients with thinning hair that have shielding ingredients such as dimethicone and glycerin to prevent future breakage and dehydration. (Try TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray.)
4. Eat a healthy and nutritious diet. What you eat — and how often — has a huge effect on the health of your hair. Your body needs constant fuel in the form of essential fatty acids, protein, B vitamins, and minerals such as zinc, iron and selenium to grow healthy hair. But don’t expect to start to load up on nutrients important for healthy hair and a week later see results. “It could take anywhere from several months or longer to notice the difference in your hair,” Stephanie Middleberg, a dietitian in NYC, says. “Hair is built from the inside out so a healthy body is important for healthy hair — but it will take time if you haven’t been getting enough of those nutrients for a while.”
5. Listen to your body. Sometimes, thinning hair is caused by medical factors, like thyroid problems, dramatic weight loss or gain, and anemia. Even heavy menstrual cycles can cause brittle, fragile hair from losing too much iron. “Any kind of hormonal balance dictates how your body is working in general,” Mancuso says. “As you get older, even in your 30s, your body is changing so you want to be in tune to what’s happening.” If something seems up with your system, always consult a doctor to get to the root of the problem.
6. Know your family history. Heredity also plays a role in hair loss. You could be prone to thinning hair just based on genetics alone. A good way to suss out whether or not you might see signs of thinning is by scoping out your family tree — from either the maternal or paternal side. If you see a pattern of hair loss or balding, see a trichologist (an expert who specializes in hair and scalp health) about what you can do to prevent the symptoms with supplements, diet changes, or laser therapy treatment that could help rev hair growth.

I chose this post because hair thinning is something that is faced by many people and it can be very frustrating and heart breaking and knowing the cause of it is never that easy and finding a cure or something to stop it is another headache by itself. And accepting hair loose is never easy knowing the causes and how to prevent or reduce hair loose is always a great thing.

Female Celebs Who Are Taller Than Their Boyfriends and Husbands

Standing tall isn’t always easy—especially if you’re standing taller than the guy on your arm. But just because you literally see eye to eye (or eye to forehead) with your boyfriend or husband in bare feet doesn’t mean you should have to abstain from wearing heels. In Hollywood, there are plenty of women who measure taller than their shawtys—and look good doing it. Here, an ode to the ladies who are a head (especially in heels) above their significant others.
